Hello first year engineering students and welcome to Waterloo Engineering! You made a great choice in deciding to attend one of the most prestigious and welcoming faculties in Canada. We are your Engineering Society Executives and would like to welcome you to your home for the next five years.
The Engineering Society (EngSoc) is the official representative for all engineering undergraduate students at the University of Waterloo and exists to support you through your time at Waterloo academically, socially, and professionally. We offer many events and services throughout each term. Our big events include TalEng (talent show), semi-formal, Genius Bowl (trivia competition) and EngPlay. Services include therapeutic puppies, online exam/scholarship banks, and a variety of technical and non-technical workshops. The calendar is available on this website and we would love to see you come out to all of these! These events are open to all undergraduate engineering students.
We have many services available just to support first year students! These include professional workshops to help you prepare for the co-op process (resume critiques and interview skills), as well as a First Year Mentorship program, and our annual First Year Engineering Leadership Conference. For more information on these, check out the First Year page on the website!
As Executives, our job is to oversee the Society and all of its governance. It’s always great to see first years getting involved! If you’re interested in getting involved in the Society, email executive.a@engsoc.uwaterloo.
Good luck in first year! We look forward to meeting all of you.
