POETS is open Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:30pm. On most days, it's a comfortable lounge to hang out, catch a flick, or play some foosball. But, on Thursday and Friday afternoons (noon to 4 p.m.), and some evenings, POETS becomes the only faculty pub on campus.

POETS is fully equipped with a sound system and video projector to play movies throughout the day.

There are also three pub nights each term: Beginning of Term (BOT), Middle of Term (MOT), and End of Term (EOT).  Watch the calendar for more information.

POETS is also available for private booking. If you need a nice place for a class party or any other special event, drop by the Orifice to set up the necessary arrangements.

POETS Warrior Lager

A old tradition that has been newly revived is POETS Warrior Lager. It is a beer brewed by Gold Crown Brewery (King Street, Waterloo) exclusively for the Waterloo Engineering Society. It can be bought in POETS whenever it is licensed.

This beer was a tradition back in the 90's and early 2000's that eventually faded out. It was survived by a painting on POETS doors, and by old labels under the bar counter. In 2009, the Engineering Society approached Gold Crown Brewery and asked them to begin brewing it again, they agreed. Hopefully this tradition will live on for years to come.

The beer itself is a Domestic Style Lager brewed without preservatives. It lives up to the spirit of microbrewed beer with a slightly meaty taste, light cream coloured head, and medium body.
