Giving back to the community is a passion of the Engineering Society, and we run many charity and outreach initiatives each year centered on giving back to the KW community and to the engineering profession. Almost every winter term since 1977, Waterloo Engineers have raised money for a local charity through an event known as Bus Push. Over the years, the “push” has evolved into a “pull” with a thick rope attached to the bus. This past weekend was the Winter 2016 Bus Push, where a group of ambitious students pulled a school bus from Waterloo campus to Kitchener Market Square. The route, which spans almost 6.5 kilometers, took them east on University Ave. and up Weber to Kitchener.
We are proud to announce that this year’s Bus Push raised almost $600 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada! Thank you to all of our participants as well as all of our supporters who helped us reach this number of donations. A big thanks to Cherrey Bus Lines for providing us with a school bus for the event!
